Leslie Palmer went to work for the British Leyland Motor Corporation in the summer of 1969, at a time when it had just gone through major upheaval, with the demise of the British Motor Holdings on its merger with the Leyland Motor Corporation. It was a time of significant change, but where old traditional values and practices were still very alive. The Mini Clubman, the 1275GT, the Clubman Estate and the Mk3 Mini were about to be launched and, for the first time the company recruited Graduate Management Trainees.
