Since his early Mini Cooper motorsport days, David Oxby has never been without a Mini in his family. In the past he has owned a 1962 Cooper, a 1967 Mini Van, a beach racing Mini and he currently has a 1972 Mini which was previously owned by his uncle from new. "He was a Methodist minister and used to complain if he couldn't get 50 to the gallon out of it," recalls David. "When it was about six years old I sold him another car and bought that one." Both David's sons, Leigh and Jason, learned to drive in it and used it for periods of time. "When I finally got it back, I put the Cooper S engine from my old lightweight special in it and I fitted 12-inch wheels so I could fit bigger brakes."
