Hornet hoping

My 1969 Wolseley Hornet, which I bought in 1975, was the only vehicle I had for travelling to work, when two years later the rear subframe collapsed I had to use it until the following weekend when I was able to fit a new one (I have the original receipt for £26.73). It was November, but fortunately the weather was good as I had to work on it outside.The following year I bought an MG Midget but I decided to keep the Hornet which I stored in a garage. It continued to rust away until 2007 when I started a major restoration which took seven years. I now like to use the Hornet all year but I am reluctant to use it during the worst of the winter weather. Last winter had been difficult, with continuous rain and farm vehicles leaving mud on the road. There were also two large building sites on roads approaching the village, depositing more mud and of course there is always the salt problem during frosty weather.
