Addressing the health of the nation

Anyone in cows today could be forgiven for asking themselves "why bother?". An increasing level of regulation, rising input prices, the threat of climate change, environmental pressures and stream of animal diseases all make livestock farming increasingly difficult. If it were not for the recent price increases for milk, I'm sure many more would have left the industry than have to date. But I'm also sure that if many were to look closely at their costs, forthcoming capital expenditure requirements and the costs of the problems stated above, they would need a pretty good milk price to keep them in milk.
