China's Secretive Defence Industry

After several reforms and a long-term development strategy, China's defence industry has progressed to producing weapons and equipment that meet the requirements of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Moreover, it now ranks prominently among global defence giants. Only a dozen or so years ago, the term 'Chinese product' was a synonym for poor quality. Since then, global brands like Huawei and Xiaomi have unexpectedly sprung up. More and more often (though not yet always), Chinese products mean good quality, not necessarily inferior to Western goods which, on many occasions, are also produced in Chinese factories. This also applies, largely, to the Chinese arms industry, whose rapid growth is the result of the regime's thoughtful strategy.
