Shipborne Land Attack and Dual-Role Missiles

The ability to strike land targets from the sea represents a dramatic change in terms of operational capabilities. Land attack missiles have been widely and successfully used in in a number of strikes, ranging from the opening of massive bombardment campaigns down to limited retaliations, to the point at which the term 'Tomahawk Diplomacy' was sometimes used in place of the more traditional 'Gunboat Diplomacy.'
