Lewis Carroll's nonsense poem, The Walrus and the Carpenter, published in Alice Through the Looking-Glass in 1871, was intended as an allegory, satirising political and religious correctness (and idiocy) a long time before 'PC became 'a thing.' I cannot help reflecting; however, that it has particular resonance with the situation we all face today - wherever we are, whatever our socio-economic circumstances or political liaisons. Brassica and monarchs, however, should be replaced by nationalism and ignorance - for those are the constructs that most threaten the stability and sustainability of our way of life.
