Clear Vision: Controp Eyes Continued Global Expansion

During a recent visit to its headquarters in Hod Hasharon, Israel, Controp Precision Technologies gave MT an overview of its newest products and how it is positioning itself in the highly competitive electro-optics (EO) market. The company now has a burgeoning footprint in North America, where it is targeting several programmes, and is solidifying its position in other regions, such as Asia-Pacific. Controp provides EO payloads for platforms in all domains, including small unmanned aerial systems (UAS), manned fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, aerostats, naval vessels and vehicles. The company also specialises in long-range optics for border and maritime applications and, more recently, infrared scanning systems that the company calls 'electro-optical radar.' These products fall into five family categories: the Stabilised Miniature Payload (STAMP) family (for UAS); iSKY; iSEA; Vehicles (including weapon sights); and Land. The company's biggest portfolio is for airborne solutions, which includes the gyro-stabilised STAMP and iSKY range. The STAMP family are used on small UAS and go up to a maximum weight of approximately 6kg, with some 2,000 units now delivered. The iSKY range offers larger, more complex payloads for fixed-wing, rotorcraft and aerostats, with the largest iSKY-50HD weighing 29kg and providing a 32km detection range, comparable to payloads such as the Wescam MX-15.
