摘要

Seeking to keep pace with emerging requirements across an increa-singly complex contemporary operating environment, international SOF continue to be focused on incremental materiel upgrades to maintain the tactical overmatch of small units. Operational requirements continue to be driven by ongoing emphasis on counter-terrorism (CT) and COIN campaigns at home and abroad, as well as capabilities to counter so-called 'near-peer' and high-capability adversaries such as China, Iran, North Korea and Russia. As sources associated with NATO Special Operations Headquarters (NSHQ) explained to MT, the increasing expansion of operational re-quirements demands critical decision-making from special operations commanders, in terms of selected materiel upgrades in a financially con-strained environment. For this reason, SOF organisations worldwide demand modular, flexible technologies in order to support multiple missions in a more cost-effective manner, rather than relying on stovepiped legacy systems.
