The House Defence Committee of the Greek-Cypriot government has approved funds for the purchase of 41 Russian-built T-90 MBTs. The relevant expenditure of €115 million included as part of the 2009 defence budget.rnCyprus already operates the Russian-made T-80 tank, and the new T-90s are intended to replace the ageing AMX-30B2s currently in the inventory. The Greek-Cypriot Defence Ministry is also calling for the purchase of TOR M2 (SA-15 GAUNTLET) mobile air defence missile systems and KORNET (AT-14) anti-tank missiles.
