2011 Navy League -More Details on Sea Services' Acquisition Strategies and Next-Generation Programmes

Organised by the Navy League of the US, the 2011 Sea Air Space Exposition was held from 11-13 April in National Harbor, Maryland. The three-day gathering of predominately industry representatives once again provided the sea services' leadership with the opportunity to provide a candid assessment of their programmes and expand their dialogue with industry representatives on current and future programmes. Admiral Jonathon Greenert, Vice Chief of Naval Operations explained at the conference, the service has reduced infrastructure overhead, restructured its commands, cancelled programmes and gained other efficiencies to support its future years defence programme budget. The VCNO provided one insight on the service's leading acquisition priorities when he declared the LCS, P-8A POSEIDON, and ballistic missile defence programs "are pretty much on track - the track that we want."
