Geopolitical and Security Environment

India has continued to receive high profile visitors in the month of January. The Navy Chiefs of France and the UK visited India while the Indian Chief of Naval Staff visited Indonesia. The indigenously built light combat aircraft (LCA) TEJAS received initial operational clearance on 10 January 2011. The LCA is expected to get final operational clearance in the next 18 months after which it will be inducted into the Indian Air Force (InAF). India is also likely to export this fighter aircraft in future.
