General James F. Amos,35th Commandant of the Marine Corps

Gen. Amos is the Commandant of the US Marine Corps. General Amos was bom in Wendell, Idaho and is a graduate of the University of Idaho. A Marine Aviator, General Amos has held command at all levels from LtCol. to LtGen. Transferred in 2000 to the Pentagon, he was assigned as Assistant Deputy Commandant for Aviation. Reassigned in December 2001, Gen. Amos served as the Assistant Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations, Headquarters, USMC. From 2008-2010 Gen. Amos was assigned as the 31st Assistant Commandant of the USMC. Gen. Amos' personal decorations include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with Gold Star, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
