Although defence industry consolidation is a global phenomenon, there are distinctions between cross-border and domestic consolidation. It appears that, in a fiercely competitive environment, smaller companies stand only a small chance of surviving, while larger companies strive for excellence in order to increase their market share and consolidate their financial gains. The reaction of officials towards aerospace and defence industry consolidation differs from country to country.
