In the wake of the recent agreement for India to procure the Dassault RAFALE combat aircraft, questions of leveraging technology in the defence and aerospace industry have once more risen to the fore within Indian governmental circles. At the time of writing, rumour, denial, and counter-confirmation were rife in the Indian and international press regarding exactly what the Indian Air Force (IAF) truly needs - and what the government seeks in return for commitment to a potentially massive investment.
