Krasuski, director of both cardiovascular research and noninvasive cardiology, began treating the chief master sergeant more than two years ago. When the two first met at the center's Heart Failure Clinic, which Krasuski runs, the chief master sergeant had severe heart failure and got winded sitting still. Because of edema his legs had swollen to more than 30 inches in diameter and were weeping fluid, and he required inpa-tient care every two weeks.
