Army eyes open-systems standard for SATCOM-networking combat vehicles on the move

Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.—U.S. Army researchers are considering an open-systems standard to help them develop or buy commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) distributed aperture satellite communications antennas for mounting on turreted combat vehicles for on-the-move communications. The Army Communications Electronics Research & Development Engineering Center (CER-DEC) Space & Terrestrial Communications Directorate (S&TCD) at Aberdeen Proving Ground has issued a request for information asking industry for suggestions on such an open-systems standard applicable to the Distributed and Embedded Standard SATCOM On-the-Move Terminal Architecture (DESSTA).
