SiGe Power Amplifier Is Tailored For MIMO WLAN Applications

Today's MIMO WLAN applications require a combination of high gain, low battery consumption, and small size. The MAAP-008516 three-stage linear power amplifier, which operates at 2.4- to 2.5-GHz, offers these traits because it was designed specifically for linear IEEE 802.11b/g applications. For 802.11 g systems, the amplifier generates +16.5 dBm jinear output power (OFDM, QAM-64, 54 Mb/s) while drawing only 80 mA current and maintaining an error-vector-magnitude (EVM) performance of 3.0 percent. For IEEE 802.11b applications, the amplifier generates +21.5 dBm linear output power while consuming only 95 mA current. It has a typical linear gain of 30 dB at an operating voltage of 3.3 V.
