AR is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the international company that began in the basement of one of its founder's homes. Donald "Shep" Shepherd, one of the three men who founded the company and the current Chairman of AR, said "We started the company in my basement because the only place we could go from there was up." From working in Shep's cellar and driving around their only sample amplifier in the trunk of Shep's car, the amplifier business has grown to encompass four companies employing over 200 people. Formerly known as AR Worldwide, AR now consists of AR RF Microwave Instrumentation, AR Modular RF, AR Receiver Systems, and AR Europe.rnNorthrop Grumman Corp. has achieved over one million operational hours for the company's LITENING precision targeting and sensor systems deployed with US and allied forces. Cicoil Corp. is the manufacturer of the cable assembly that is the "electrical backbone" for the LITENING system.
