Competitive wireless designers try to shrink the size of every new product generation. To help with this process of diminishing printed-circuit-board (PGB) real estate, Anaren Microwave (East Syracuse, NY) has developed a line of surface-mount passive components called the Xingers. With an extensive line that includes baluns, hybrid couplers, directional couplers, and power dividers, the firm promises the performance of traditional RF/microwave passive components in packages that resemble circuit elements, such as capacitors. The passive components serve medium- and high-power applications through 4 GHz.
