The 41-year-old British designer began his career in photography, but in recent years Haygarth has turned his attention to the intersection of lighting design and man-made flotsam. Since 2004 he has created chandeliers made from New Year's party poppers, disposable plastic wineglasses, discarded lamp shades, and assorted debris washed up on a stretch of Kent coastline. His latest is last year's Spectacle Chandelier, composed of more than 1,000 pairs of prescription eyeglasses. (The glasses had been donated to charity but were unusable and destined for the incinerator.) A new edition of the chandelier, which Is more than three feet wide and almost ten feet tall, will hang in the small review gallery of the Lighthouse until late February.
