Application of ozone in after-clearing of dyed PET in a pilot jet dyeing machine

The application of ozone in after-clearing of polyester dyed fabrics has been studied. The treatment was applied in a closed pilot scale jet dyeing machine. Arrangement was made to inject ozone gas online into the jet dyeing bath. The reduction clearing treatment was applied in the same machine and was considered as a reference. The reduction as well as the oxidative cleared with ozone were compared for crock fastness and wash fastness properties. Results found that ozone treated samples for crock and wash-fastness were comparable to those of reduction-cleared samples. The ozone treatment was found to be more economical, less energy consuming and with lower impact on water pollution.
