European polypropylene (PP) staple fibre supplier Beaulieu Fibres International (BFI) has extended its Meraklon range with the introduction of polyolefin bicomponent fibres that combine softness and strength for nonwovens. The new fibres are based on a PP core and polyethylene (PE) sheath. The PE sheath offers excellent softness in the nonwoven, while high strength and thermal stability areensured by the solid PP core, says the company of Wielsbeke, Belgium.
