There are those who bring home the bacon. And then there are those who help make a safe, attractive and high quality package in which to bring home that bacon. For Wingate Packaging Inc., bacon has been a hallmark of the business for decades. The Ohio-based company is one of the nation's largest board and carton suppliers to the bacon industry. Indeed, the "L" in Wingate's L-board can just as well stand for terms like longevity, loyalty, legacy and lineage. Wingate's history as a supplier of bacon boards as well as folding cartons and corner cartons dates back more than 30 years, when the then-struggling company was bought by John S. Richardson, owner of SugarCreek in Washington Court House, Ohio. Richardson sold SugarCreek to his son, John G. Richardson and directed his efforts to running and building the bacon board side of the business for the next 25 years.
