Special Issue on Innovations in Test-Based Accountability

摘要

The articles in this issue were presented earlier this year at an invited symposium at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association. The topic and format for the sym-posium was inspired by Michael Feuer's (Feuer, 2008) chapter in a book honoring Robert Linn (Ryan & Shepard, 2008). In that chapter Feuer argued that "an optimal test-based accountabil-ity system" needs to accommodate conflicting requirements. The lead article in this issue is by Michael Feuer and takes the form of challenge to assessment designers to constructively address those competing requirements. The remaining four articles are a response to that challenge.
