The aim of this paper is to outline a large generalization of the convexity theory, based on the study of certain order relations, geometrically determined. That will allow us to bring together appearently unrelated facts and results and to explain the similarity between several domains of functional analysis. The present paper has been circulated in the early 90's as a preprint, entitled Lectures ofAlfsen - Effros theory.
