Development of standardization work for the Charpy impact test

摘要

This article shows how the necessity for the standardization of impact testing arose and the development of standardization work at the national, European and international levels. An over- view is given about the national and supranational standards for impact testing (test method, verification and calibration of testing machines, calibration of reference test pieces) and the main points of the new presently valid standards are explained.
