Tensile deformation behaviour of magnesium alloy AZ80 at high temperatures

The high temperature deformation behaviour of AZ80 magnesium alloy is studied using tensile tests under strain rates ranging from 0.1 to 20 mm min(-1) at temperatures ranging from 300 to 450 degrees C. Microstructure characteristics and forming performance parameters of the alloy, such as fracture morphology and elongation, are obtained. The results show that there are peaks on all of the stress-strain curves at different deformation conditions. The peak stress decreases with increasing deformation temperature and decreasing strain rate. The plasticity of AZ80 Mg alloys increases firstly and then decreases with increasing temperature. Combining this with the analysis of microstructures and fracture morphology, it can be concluded that AZ80 Mg alloys have the best deformation abilities under strain rates ranging from 1 to 10 mm min(-1) at 425 degrees C.
