摘要

A novel solution-based approach for the metathetic synthesis of hydrated MnV_2O_6 driven by microwave energy has been successfully demonstrated. The metathetic pathway of synthesizing this technologically important material is confirmed by the presence of high lattice energy by-product NaCl as per the reaction. MnCl_2 + NaVO_3→~(aq)MnV_2O_6 + 2NaCl The structural, optical, chemical and magnetic properties of synthesized compound were examined by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), magnetic measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy. The optical band gap of the material is measured to be 2.15 ± 0.2 eV. Finally, magnetic properties of the spin 5/2 analog hydrated MnV_2O_6 have been determined.
