Phase Separation Synthesis of Yttrium-Doped Iron Oxide Composite Nanoparticles (α-Fe_2O_3-α-Fe_2O_3@Y-YFeO_3) and Their Photo-Catalytic Property

摘要

A series of α-Fe_2O_3@Y (0%, 1 %, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 50%) nano-particles were designed and prepared through polymerization induced phase separation method. The obtained samples can be mainly divided into three kind of matrixes based on the different quantity of Y~(3+) ions: pure α-Fe_2O_3, Y (Ⅲ) doped α-Fe_2O_3 hybrid materials, and pure YFeO_3. Synthetic samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, UV-vis absorption spectra, and magnetic properties in detail. Furthermore, the photo-catalytic degradation of methylene blue in the presence of H_2O_2 were investigated, and the observed photo-catalytic performances of α-Fe_2O_3@Y (0%, 1%, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 50%) nano-particles were associated with their crystal structures, which further indicate that the introduction of Y (Ⅲ) has an remarkable influence on photo-activity of α-Fe_2O_3 matrix. In addition, the magnetic property of α-Fe_2O_3@Y (50%) was also studied at room temperature, which can be considered as typical characteristic of paramagnetism according to magnetization versus magnetic field curve.
