Central Certification of NDT Personnel: A UK Operator Perspective

I have just returned from the ASNT Fall Conference in Dallas, Texas, and thoroughly enjoyed myself, again. The facilities of the hotel were excellent (a bit expensive but well worth it), and the hospitality shown to overseas visitors, like myself, by the hotel, fellow members of ASNT, and headquarters staff was most appreciated. This was my sixth ASNT conference and I fully enjoyed "the crack" as we say, with old and new friends from around the world. This year the serious "crack" was about certified NDT operators, central certification systems (CCS), and the ISO document. My Collins English Dictionary defines "certified" as "holding a certificate" and gives two examples: attested cattle and inmates of a lunatic asylum.
