Experiences with Central Certification of NDT Personnel: Implementation of EN 473 from the View of a German Certifying Body

Almost four years of experience show that EN 473 is alive and readily applied in all countries of the European Union. The implementation of the standard in the dif- -ferent countries has not been completed and has progressed differently. Consensus has been obtained in the interpretation of transition regulations, industry sectors, and accreditation. Questions remain to be answered, such as harmonization with ISO 9712 and extra-European personnel certification schemes.
