Italian rudder propellers for Indian barge

Although rerhaps best known as a cutter suction dredger manufacturer, Italdraghe SpA has in fact been designing and building rudder propellers for more than forty years. The Italian company recently supplied and commissioned two rudder propellers for installation on the Indian built crane barge MV Narmada Jalprabha, which was designed for iron and coal carrier loading/unloading. The vessel, built by M/S Shoft Shipyard (Bharuch) for the Ahillyabai Sardesai Group features a 30 tonnes at 35m MacGreggor crane. The deck mounted GPM350 (400hp) rudder propellers driven by Volvo D12 engines feature 360° azimuthal rotation, 60° hydraulic trim, four blade bronze propellers of 1,200mm diameter and 500mm hydraulic immersion adjustment.
