Building a performance cruiser which successfully combines the comfort of a cruising yacht with the excitement of a regatta boat has long been the holy grail of builders and designers around the world. With the launching of the latest Jongert 2900M 'Ameena'- created in conjunction with pre-eminent designer Tony Castro - the famous Dutch boatyard might well declare that the search is over. The 2900M is the latest in a long line of semi-custom yachts from Jongert. Essentially, the 29 m all-aluminium Jongert/Castro hull is standard, while the rig, deck layout and accommodation are tailored to individual owner's requirements. So, while 'Ameena' perfectly suits her owner's demands for a fast family cruising boat, the next boat will have a more 'racy' feel to it, as befits her more competitively-minded owner. It's a formula that works well and which the yard have , developed a name for over the past 50 years.
