THE SEDNA~®-SYSTEM, A HAMANN MODULAR BALLAST WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM

Hamann AG, based in Germany, has developed the SEDNA~®-System which has been designed to meet the proposed D2-Standard of the IMO Ballast Water Convention. This convention defines the allowable concentration of viable organisms and sediments in the ballast water discharged by vessels. Nicoverken Marine Services B.V. is the exclusive agent for the SEDNA~®-System in Holland and Belgium. Technical description The SEDNA~®-System operates in-line during the intake of the ballast water. The system is based on a modular concept which consists of a two-step physical separation and a secondary treatment with an oxidant.
