Keppel Shipyard Ltd. will convert a FPSO, a floating production storage and offloading unit, for Dutch SBM Offshore. After installation in the Gulf of Mexico, the FPSO will be the deepest production facility in the world as well as the deepest FPSO with a disconnectable buoy, buoyant turret mooring. "The vessel will host the Stones ultra deepwater development by Shell in Mexico. The conversion entails among other things the refurbishment and life extension, upgrading of living quarters, fabrication and installation of the internal disconnectable buoy system and topside module supports, as well as the installation and integration of topside modules. The FPSO for SBM Offshore will have a processing facility capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil per day and 15 mmscfd of gas treatment and export, in addition she will be able to store 800,000 barrels of crude oil after being converted. The delivery of the vessel is expected in the second quarter of 2014.
