DutchWorkboats' Fast Survey Boat 7.50 international success

Innovative workboats designed and made in Holland, that is what DutchWorkboats stands for. Early July DutchWorkboats conducted trial runs with its Fast Survey Boat 7.50 in Amsterdam. It is the second vessel of this type that the young company sold, after Van Oord this time to Royal IHC, for their client Huta Marine Works, based in Saudi-Arabia, for whom the shipyard is currently building a cutter suction dredger. The first survey boat was initially designed and built in close cooperation with Van Oord and had to comply with several specifications: it needed to weigh no more than 2,750 kilogrammes to be able to be transported by trailer and it needed to be fast, quiet, comfortable and safe. The result is a fast-sailing, purpose-built survey vessel with two moonpools, an economical Volvo Penta diesel engine and the newest high-tech survey equipment, supplied by Sterna Systems. This survey equipment is integrated in the hull, which means that the surveyors save the time they normally need to calibrate their equipment. Next to that, a lot of time and therefore money is saved during survey operations, explains Bruno Tideman, one of the owners of DutchWorkboats: "The current users can finish their work within a week now, instead of the month it used to take them, due to the high maximum surveying of up to 16 knots, compared to the about six knots traditional survey vessels can do during operations." Transit speed of the boat can be as high as 24 knots.
