The last decade has witnessed announcements by various port-managing bodies on increased formal collaboration, taking the form of alliances, joint ventures and outright mergers. These cooperative arrangements have involved port-managing bodies as well as other actors along the maritime supply chain and across the boundaries of the public-private spectrum. Cases of such collaborations come from all over the globe, with documented cases mainly coming from North America, Europe and Asia.
