The last decade has witnessed announcements by various port managing bodies on increased formal collaboration, taking the form of alliances, joint ventures and outright mergers. These cooperative arrangements have involved port managing bodies as well as other actors along the maritime supply chain and across the boundaries of the public-private spectrum. Cases of such collaboration come from all over the world, with documented cases mainly from North America, Europe and Asia.
