Traditionally, the work crews and equipment that perform the maintenance and repairs on floating and fixed offshore structures are housed are fixed dedicated structures or anchored semi-submersible vessels. Lauritzen Offshore Services A/S, part of the J. Lauritzen Group, however, thought it could apply its experience with dynamic positioning technology to develop a new type of accommodation vessel based on a traditional ship hull that could provide flexibility and be used in deepwa-ter. The result of that is the Accommodation and Support Vessel (ASV) Dan Swift.
