An LNG carrier with maximum cargo space

This past August, Korea's STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. delivered the 173,600 m3 Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier Castillo de San-tisteban to Empresa Naviera Elcano SA. The 299.9m × 45.8m LNG carrier is outfitted with the maximum cargo tank size accepted by GTT and has a No 96E2 membrane cargo containment system. The hull of Castillo de Santisteban is divided into four cargo tanks by cofferdams and consists of five pairs of water ballast tanks in side and bottom space. The cargo containment, cargo handling, control and measuring systems are designed, constructed and equipped to transport LNG in four membrane cargo tanks at about -163℃ and at the absolute pressure of 106 kPa.
