This month some 700 ports around the world should be offering a new engine lubricant that, claims its manufacturer, will overcome the adverse conditions seen in low oil consuming medium-speed engines operating on low quality heavier fuel oils and with possible fuel contamination of the crankcase oil. Taking three years and £3M to produce, Castrol Marine's new TLX Plus range incorporates high quality base oils and unique additive technology to produce 'outstanding cleanliness of the piston, undercrown and ring belt, and significant improvement in crankcase cleanliness, wear protection, fuel handling and thermal and antioxidation stability'.
