Quite a number of economic gurus had predicted a more rapid and advanced growth in the overall economy for the year 2000, but in the end everyone was quite happy to see at least a slight growth and improvement in the economic situation compared to 1999. This certainly applies to the German confectionery industry, which had also hoped for much better results for the year 2000, but in the end was happy to see at least a slight increase in turnover and production volume for the 268 industrial producers.
