Aldi UK sales rise 16.8%

Discount retailer Aldi saw its U.K. sales rise 16.8 percent in January and February, with a 12.2 percent rise in numbers of shoppers. Aldi recorded year-on-year growth of 16.3 percent for the 12 weeks ending 22 March. The total number of Aldi stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland is 467.rnAldi will invest around £200 million (US$292 million) this year as it aims to have 500 stores open, including extending and refurbishing 36 stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
