Turkish conglomerate Yildiz Holding is bringing its global chocolate and biscuit businesses together in a single umbrella subsidiary called Pladis. This includes the brands Godiva, DeMet's, UElker and United Biscuits. The new subsidiary started operations in mid-January. Named after the Pleiades star, Pladis' mission is to "bring happiness to the whole world in every bite." The new global company is expecting to achieve annual revenue of US$5.2 billion and employ 26,000 people worldwide.
