Chairman's Statement 2012

2011 was a significant year for the Institute and indeed for myself, having been elected Chairman at the AGM in October. My thanks go to the Council of Management for the confidence they have placed in me to take the Institute forward and to my predecessor David Blanchflower who has left a solid foundation upon which I hope to build. I am now in a position to implement the strategy formulated when I was Deputy Chairman. The key elements of this are: To strengthen the links between the Institute and its existing education providers and to identify and develop new links and providers, particularly those overseas; to raise the profile and increase membership of the Institute in the retail and services sectors, which have been identified as significant growth areas in the economy; and, to improve communications, in particular, the Institute's use of the internet.
