I would like to extend my greetings and best wishes to readers of Maritime Magazine, and invite you all to join us in Saguenay, Quebec, for our 61st Annual General Meeting and Conference, September 9-12. There, we will consider various aspects of this year's theme: "Anchored in Development." Certainly, there have been many developments since we met last year in Saint John. The Saguenay conference will give us all pause to consider how to capitalize on an era of expansion and growth in the years ahead. We have lot to consider. The Ports Modernization Review gave the opportunity to step back and survey the vast range of issues affecting ports. Our 21 recommendations to Transport Canada covered everything from fiscal flexibility, governance, and trade logistics, to security, sustainability, and relations with Indigenous peoples. We consolidated many issues into a succinct exploration of what must be addressed for Canadian ports to remain competitive in the 21st century.
