Rapid growth in information technology has increasedthe reach of human communication through a computernetwork. Technological innovation has not only led to theexpansion of quality education to remote areas but alsoradically altered the content delivery, instruction style and therelationship between the learner and instructor. The net resultof these changes is a paradigm shift from classroom-confinedinstruction to anytime, anywhere, readily accessible onlineeducation. For example, according to one estimate, in 2013,11.1 percent of all undergraduate students in the UnitedStates were enrolled in a fully online degree program, andmore than 25 percent of students had taken at least oneonline course.1
