ICAC Collaborates with iEA Clean Coal Center on International Efforts to Address Global Mercury Emissions

ICAC staff met with a representative from the International Energy Agency (IEA), who is heading up efforts to develop mercury emission inventories from coal-fired power plants in China, India, Russia and South Africa. In February 2009 the UN Environmental Programme's (UNEP) Governing Council unanimously decided to launch negotiations on an international mercury treaty to address worldwide mercury emissions.
