MODERN STEAM - WEST COAST WILDERNESS RAILWAY

The West Coast Wilderness Railway is a 3'6" gauge tourist railway on the west coast of the Australian island state of Tasmania. The railway was once the part of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company's empire. Opened in part in 1897 and fully in 1899 the original line ran from the mines in Queenstown to the port of Strahan on the well protected Macquarie Harbour. It served its owners until closure came in 1963.
